SYNOPSIS

We see and hear the prayers of a devoted mother (Gigi Keyes) for her son who has strayed.  She pleads with God that her son would come to know Him in a personal way, “Not just words from a preacher, but who You really are.”

Then we meet Adam (Stephen Moffatt).  He wants to be his own man and do his own things.  He knows he’s hurting those who love him, but he honestly believes he has time to do “the church thing” later.

His best friend is Ben (Akron Watson).  Ben and Adam have been through a lot together.  Ben has recently gone through a really tough time and realized that God was the only way he made it through.  He sees Adam struggling and is trying his best to show Adam why and how he’s changed.

Ashley (Leslie Leseman) is the daughter of the founders of the church and has fallen for Adam.  He sees in her a girl who just does what she’s supposed to do to keep her family happy.  She doesn’t really know God… she just knows what she’s supposed to say and supposed to do.  She has a relationship with God built on appearances, not an intimate connection.

Lastly, we meet Adam’s sister (Madison Porter) and pastor (Bishop Darryl Crawford).  Both are answers to the mom’s constant prayers.  They give Adam opportunities; they try to show him that their relationship with God is real… It’s all just up to Adam.

Mark 9:41 "For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward. 42 "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea. 43 "If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, 44 [where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.] 45 "If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into hell, 46 [where  THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.] 47 "If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell, 48 where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. 49 "For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 "Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."

Where did WORM come from?

About 8 years ago, good friend of mine from college told me he had written a play.  He told me his church was actually producing it and invited me to come watch.  Now, I’m cynical.  I’ve seen so many Christian scripts where everyone is bowing at the end and Jesus is standing over them smiling that I just didn’t want to see another one.  He promised it was different and he was right.  Brian Kennedy had written a script that reached people in a different way.  That night, I cried three times during the production.  It was standing room only with about 300 people squeezed into the chairs.  It ran for three nights.  It was amazing.  I saw kids running to the altar before an altar-call was ever given.   This story shakes you.

Brian and I talked about adapting the script for the screen.  Neither of us had too much experience at that time.  Then I began to work with Serendipitous Films and other production companies who God placed into my life to equip me with what I needed to know to do this project.  The screenplay was written.  Then rewritten… then tweaked… the re-tweaked… you get the point!  Now, its time.  This is a story that has to be shared.  This project is not a film for adults.  Its not a film for little kids.  It’s a film for teenagers.  Young people who are developing into the adult that they are going to become.  It is an incredible spiritual battleground and I believe this story expresses how tough it is to be a teenager.  But more importantly, I believe this will minister to teenagers and absolutely change lives.
